Enabling residents to have fair access to local tennis courts through a court reservation app

My story.

I was initially drawn to product design because I wanted to create beautiful websites and apps. It wasn’t until later that I learned that it was so much more than that. From improving how things work to enabling people to form connections, good design removes barriers and makes something which was previously unimaginable or not possible - possible.

My passion for design stems from 3 areas:
  • 1) A deep appreciation for technology. Previously as a product manger primarily focused on back-end software, I witnessed the power of technology in a highly integrated environment running efficiently on a large scale. It's quite amazing to see what code can achieve given the "invisible" aspect of it.
  • 2) My love to be visually creative. I've always loved making art whether it was drawing or making animal figures out of clay. I love the exploration process of creating something and being able to see and feel my work.
  • 3) My lifelong goal to understand different people's perspectives. On a philosophical level, the key to good design is not so different than the key to seeing the world. Only when you try to understand the perspective of someone do you truly empathize with them, and when that happens, I think we become better people and make this world a better place.
As I pivot my career to product design, I'm eager to learn and do good work and work with people with a similar mindset. I see challenges as opportunities to improve and learn about myself, and to me, that's what life's about. Outside of design, you can find me playing tennis, hanging with my dog Cherry, and watching too many reality shows. 🎾 🐶 🌹
